Join us for a curated collection of dance works, in a choreography showcase, on Sunday, November 9th at 4:00 PM at Mamaroneck’s Emelin Theater.
The event features the work of emerging and established choreographers selected by audition and commission by the Steffi Nossen Dance Foundation. This performance brings Westchester professional and pre-professional artists together with artists from the tri-state region for an exciting afternoon of dance.
A highlight of the event will be a Steffi Nossen Dance Company performance of "les infants qui ne dorment pas". Originally choreographed by Pleasantville choreographer Annie Doss in 1998 while a dance major at Marymount Manhattan College, it was first performed in Westchester in 2001 at the Pleasantville JCC’s Newman Theater and then brought to the Steffi Nossen preprofessional Master Class in 2016. It is currently being restaged by Steffi Nossen Artistic Director, Jessica DiMauro, who performed in both earlier versions.
The Steffi Nossen Dance Company will also premiere “The Midnight Oil”, by Julia Lawton, Artistic Director of the Lawton Dance Collective, in collaboration with Steffi Nossen dancers together with dancers Lawton company members.
Also on the program will be work by choreographers Alexandra Bilodau, Kierstyn Edore, Kat Reese, Derick McKoy, and Courtney Murray and Melanie Hom.
In a Q&A following the performance, audience members can learn about the creation of a dance from a choreographer’s idea to its realization on the stage and other aspects of dance. Choreographers and dancers value learning how audience members see the work as well as seeing each other’s new creations and exchanging ideas.
